Who has never made a mistake? It is even said that ‘to err is human.’ Having made a mistake the trick is to acknowledge it, learn from it and forget it. If instead we keep our mistakes with us they have an influence over our whole way of being and life. This even applies to small mistakes, they do not influence us as much but they are still taking our thoughts and our energy leaving us confused and lacking in clarity.
To learn from it, then to forgive and forget is the effort we need to make so as to not continue to experience the pain of it and be able to take the benefit of the present. If we don’t learn from them and forget them we tend to repeat them.
The best way to find the lesson in them to allow you to forgive and forget is to use meditation, Raj Yoga meditation is particularly good as it is based on knowledge and aims to enable you to enjoy every second of your life.
Sit in silence and bring whatever it is that is bothering you before you. Ask yourself: What can I do about this? In silence we understand that it happened, that it is in the past now and that there is no good in keeping on replaying it in our minds and so re-experiencing the pain of it. In silence we can realize its’ lesson (so that I wont have to repeat it) and then delete with determination.
Then there will be times that we need to seek help from someone more experienced than ourselves in order to delete it. As with physical illnesses when we sometimes need a surgeon’s help to help cure us so it is sometimes with mistakes. If you do not know someone that you can talk too then write a letter to God, open your heart to Him and tell Him what bothers you and then ask Him for His forgiveness and to help you to forget it.
To avoid mistakes, before you make a decision or act, be silent for one minute. This is a way of invoking our inner spiritual powers to our aid. When we do this even if something doesn’t work out it doesn’t bite us as much.
How do you react to the mistakes of others? Are you influenced by them or do you take time to understand and forgive? We ask others to forgive us our mistakes, yet are we ready to forgive them? Instead of hitting back use understanding, kindness and tolerance. This inadvertently is for your own benefit too, as if we hit back we usually end up regretting it. In not hitting back we also avoid escalating a situation and maintain our self-esteem. You can become so peaceful that you don’t mind at all whatever (good or bad) anyone says to you, you are full and content.
Also be aware, that when someone is hurtful towards us it may be that has stemmed from you- our behaviours and habits impact on others even if we are not consciously aware they are.
Do you ever feel forced to do something that you don’t want to do? You don’t have to do something just to please another if it is not right or beneficial for you. Use your inner spiritual powers to know what is right or wrong for you and then if not right peacefully and lovingly decline.
My fault or yours it doesn’t matter, have a big and generous heart. Become silent, understand, forgive and forget. We are peaceful and loving beings. Be in charge.
