In Part 1 of “The Mirror Within”, we recognised, that there comes a moment in every soul’s journey where the noise inside us becomes too loud to ignore, and what we have disregarded becomes too painful to avoid.
Over time, this emotional accumulation can become so tangled that we forget who we are beneath it all. This is where the mirror within becomes essential.
In Part 2, we get strategic on responding to all forms of suffering in the mind, how to untangle it and understand how it can be transformed.
1. The Clarity Star Exercise
Take a piece of paper. Draw a star. In the centre, write “ME.”
Each point of the star represents a situation causing heaviness in your life. On each line, write down one of these situations.
Now rate each one from 1 (low intensity) to 5 (high intensity). Then ask yourself:
• Which are the 4s and 5s?
• If I could reduce those to a 2 or 3, how would that affect the others?
This simple exercise brings clarity. You begin to see how one emotional weight can influence everything else.
2. How We Respond to Suffering
We usually respond to inner pain in three ways:
The Closed Door We avoid. “I don’t want to go there right now. Maybe later.” The mind whispers this in an attempt to protect us. But what we avoid grows.
The Labyrinth We feel lost. “I don’t know what to do. I’ve tried everything. I’m stuck.” It feels like a maze with no exit. We feel powerless.
The Anchor We know what to do but don’t do it. “I’ll start tomorrow. I don’t have the energy.” We cling to familiar pain because it feels safer than the unknown of healing.
Ask yourself: How am I responding right now? Closed door, labyrinth, or anchor?
3. The Process of Untangling
We begin with one thread. Ask yourself:
1. What am I feeling right now?
2. What am I afraid of?
3. What emotion lies beneath that fear? (Guilt, shame, rejection, loneliness?)
4. What am I attached to? What do I want from this situation?
Once you see this clearly, the inner work has already begun.
Detachment doesn’t mean becoming cold or distant. It means becoming free. But to detach, I must first understand. To understand, I must first accept. And to accept, I must first be honest.
Honesty → Understanding → Acceptance → Detachment.
4. Meditation and Power
In meditation, we gather the power to face what we could not face before. Peace gives birth to strength.
Let me sit with my inner child and say: “You are safe. The Divine is with you. Everything will be okay.” If I sit in pain, I become the pain. If I sit in the solution, I become the solution.
5. Compassion, Forgiveness, and Transformation
Compassion is responding to suffering with care.
Self-compassion is doing this for yourself. Holding yourself in love, with honesty. Because honesty is a form of love.
Forgiveness happens when your highest truth meets divine love. You see clearly what went wrong, and you commit to living differently. Not in guilt, but in growth.
Transformation then happens naturally. You release the past. You stop clinging to your pain.
6. Final Thoughts: Reconnecting With the Divine
You may wonder: How can I believe that God loves me when I’ve never felt it?
It begins with the relationship to yourself.
When you remember you are a soul and not just a body or a role, you reconnect. When you believe in yourself, you begin to believe in the Divine. And when you feel that love in your heart, even once, the pain melts.
The key is not to do more.
The key is being willing to see. To reflect. To feel. To love.
Thank you for holding this space with so much courage.
You are seen. You are loved. You are not alone.
