Unleash Your Potential

How do you unleash the best of you?
At one end is the fully ‘unleashed’ you; here you are fully you. Here you aren’t procrastinating or feeling lazy, these are associated with not living your own story. Here you are connected with what you are here for, fully involved, passionate about what you are doing and tireless. This is your eternal face, it never goes away it just gets hidden for a time.

Each soul comes here with a gift. This gift is connected with being not doing, and we are here to be this quality and give it to the world. When we are here and doing this everything flows, becomes easy and is wonderful.

At the other end is the ‘shrunken’ (suppressed) you. This ‘shrunken’ you may not be unsuccessful, externally you may be doing very well, but inside you don’t feel fulfilled. Here we experience anger, fear, depression, frustration, anxiety etc. We know that it isn’t right for us to feel so, so what is it that we have missed?

It is as if we wake up and are thrown into the day; we are slapped around a bit and spun as if in a washing machine and then we are thrown back. We collapse in a chair, eat, drink, sleep and begin again.

There is a syndrome in the corporate world known as ‘impostor syndrome.’ The corporate world today moves fast and to stay ahead you have to move even faster. There is no time to study(!) and you must be ready to jump in and pretend you know the answers. This brings the fear that; ‘I will be found out. They will know I don’t know what I am talking about.’ Why? We are living someone elses’ story not our own.

Today we live to fit into the identity we were born into rather than unleash our potential. We look at what is around us and adjust ourselves to be the same, normal. We do this because we want to be accepted and loved by those around us and feel secure. When we move out of our potential we become insecure and we look to externals for what we need.

Negative emotions: when we think we are being negative this makes us even heavier and feel even worse as on top of everything else we are being negative! Instead of saying positive/negative it is more helpful to talk of healthy or detrimental/unsupportive/un-useful emotions.

What does it mean to live my story?
It means to be the seed that is you, to nurture it and to let it grow into the truth of its own being (become its own tree). To find the resonance of your own truth; your own core rhythm.

First; plant the seed. Say ‘yes’ to your own destiny, whatever that may be, and to be willing to flourish; to finding your own rhythm and to being powerful in this.

Second; to nurture it:
(i) Meditation; as this is about reconnecting with your seed and potential.
(ii) Create a visual image: paint it, draw it, make a collage… anything at all that reminds you of the things that make you feel expanded and happy and are important to you. Keep it in front of you and let it feed your vision every day.
(iii) Feed your mind with truth and your heart with hope.
(iv) Find like-minded people that you can talk about these things with.
(v) Look out for the signs and signals and follow them, don’t try and control.
(vi) Appreciation: stop and appreciate all the good things. If every night you see what there was about today to appreciate you will find yourself expand and move along much more quickly.

Third; to manage the resistance and fear.
When you imagine saying ‘yes’ to living your own story you may find fear comes. We have believed for so long that to survive we must play the part (be normal) and not rock the boat. Now we are saying; maybe I can live my own life, this means we will have to override the set of beliefs we inherited and the filters we have been looking through. We have a lot of beliefs, values and constructs; we are very conditioned to believe the ‘stories.’

You may find yourself resisting and hanging-on to many things; this requires a vast amount of energy though. Letting go releases the energy within you. A friend once said at this point how she realized that her pain had become like her best friend to her and how hard it was to let it go. Saying ‘yes’ to living your story though means that you will have to let go what no longer resonates with you; this takes courage. Just keep saying ‘yes’ and for every step of courage you take you will find great forces come to your aid. Then life becomes an adventure, you may not know what is going to happen next you can be sure though that it will be wonderful. You will begin to feel more alive, stronger and know your own goodness.
