We sleep to repair our bodies. The body has been active and using up its’ resources all throughout the day, so whilst resting, the body has a chance to repair and re-energise.
- Set a period to unwind before you go to bed.
- Have a small notebook to note down ‘things to do later’ as they come to your mind.
- Find your sleep cycle. Go to bed at a reasonable time and see what time you wake up without an alarm. Do this for a week and you will find how much sleep you really need.
- Resolve problems before sleep rather than shelving things subconsciously; be like the defragmenter programme on a PC putting everything back into order.
- Let go: whatever happened has happened. Clean up the conscious, the waste thoughts, just like the clean up programme on a PC.
- Listen or read something relaxing.
- Go to bed with a clean conscience and clean heart. Say to yourself: ‘I have done my best today.’
How can I do these?
I must start thinking in a certain way. I can only think one thought at a time. I cannot be positive and negative at the same time. I have a choice about how I think, act and respond.
Areas to help us deal with these issues:
These are all to do with my attitude. We are alone inside our own heads, with our own thoughts. We filter what we see through our own life experiences. We can change our attitudes by working with certain parameters.
– What do I want to do with my internal world? How do I want to feel?
– When you have waste thoughts ask yourself: Why am I affected? Why am I thinking this over and over again? Track them down; they will bring you to your values. May be you saw ‘truth’ being violated in that situation which is why you were so affected. Addressing them allows you to finish them.
– Why not make your whole life creative, not just your job or your weekends? Being constantly in the creative process will enable us to resolve problems at their seed stage, and from the core of our being, where we function. Access that silence, and bring those resources out.
– Find your strongest weakness and decide, for yourself, how you want to address it. I have a choice about how to act. The intellect plays a role here. However, when you are caught up in your own world you can’t make a choice. Become self-observant, detached from yourself and from the alter ego that we all have created. Ego’s choice will always be towards the weakness’ side, the wrong choice. Being in the creative process allows me to change myself. Recognise the dangerous choice, the addiction. Can I do without it?
– We are all caught up in peer pressure, fuelled by the media. This subservience does not allow us to be ourselves. Little by little, say to yourself: Have I got a preference here?
– Appreciation: appreciating our own fortune, uniqueness and individuality. It is the attitude of being present and expressing your beauty.
– Start to see what this soul wants. Start an inner conversation with yourself.
Then:
– I need less
– I start to give others help to repair and heal their own lives.
