Self-Transformation: Dance Your Own Dance

Spiritual self-transformation is about improving my way of being and doing. To spiritually transform myself is to invest in my future.

***It is important to understand that I can only transform myself, not others. I am the centre of ‘my’ world and others of theirs. I can not control anything outside of myself, only my reaction to what is happening around me and what I contribute to that situation.

In the world three things are needed for success: a clear purpose (P), willpower (W) and the skills (S) or a talent with the ability to learn.

If W + P but no S = a static bicycle – not moving forward…
If W + S but no P = a loose hose pipe – this way, that way, I expend a lot of energy running around…
If S + P but no W = the critic on the sofa- passive whilst criticizing others easily…

When my aim is spiritual I need P and W, S will emerge.

What is your P? To be more tolerant/kind/easy/light/happy/patient/trusting etc. This is my focus and then I need a W (such determination) then S will emerge and grow.

*** If my P is not clear and I don’t have W I will get lost in a crowd of wants. “Just have this aim and focus on it.” We are encouraged to want many things, a bigger flat, a new car, the latest fashion, a new hairstyle, etc… If we are not careful our P can become just one of many. We can then find ourselves deluded by other wants. To achieve something good I often have to let go of other things, here to let go of multiple wants for my one primary one. When I do this – find everything conspires to help you achieve this aim. A clear purpose attracts to itself what is needed to achieve it.

***My desire to change must be deep (W) as there will be challenges every day. If my W is not firm then when ‘my buttons’ are pushed I will unconsciously react forgetting my P. Now I am dancing the dance of whoever or whatever is pushing my buttons and not my own dance. I need to be determined to overcome all the tests that come and to dance my own dance.

A leader never reacts dancing the dance of others. A leader remains calm and is able to discern what is the best thing to do for all and then to act. A leader has self control/sovereignty.
