3 relationships: with myself, God and others.
In relationship with myself
What do you want to experience?
-Peace? Then invest in peaceful thoughts.
-Your conscience as your guide? Then invest in the spiritual path.
-Truth? Then invest in honesty.
These are the relationships between:
-‘My conditioning-conscience-subconscious mind (memories).
-Head and heart.
Study your mind: It will tell you all about you.
-Observe your thoughts without judgement. Spot those:
- Your subconscious mind is thinking.
- Due to your conditioning
- The ones resulting from what you are seeing, hearing etc.
-Notice how when the thoughts in your mind are not in harmony with your conscience there is some degree of distress there.
-See how the speed of your thinking is much faster when you are worried or angry.
Re-tuning your conditioning and subconscious with your conscience
*Before a stream of thoughts hijack you apply mindfulness, be attentive.
*Refresh your mind. Is it really necessary to think about and have an opinion on everything? Sometimes choose to be silent. Let your mind be quiet and experience rest. The more the mind experiences peace the more it is able to remain peaceful when situations happen. A peaceful mind is a discerning one and one that is able to see what is needed to be done to resolve the situation beneficially and swiftly.
Fine tuning your head and heart
The head is the masculine principle and the heart is the feminine one. When the head is being ruled by ego the heart becomes fearful and unable to trust the head building a defensive wall around itself. To marry the head and heart: when ego arises call it back and plant a seed of peace. As peace descends on the mind the heart feels more trusting and begins to open. The head notices the heart’s growing trust and faith in it and becomes protective…
Peace gives stability to head.
Love gives security to heart.
In relationship with God
This brings us the experience of love and provides our hearts with the security they need to open up and love unconditionally once again. Then when we begin to express our innate goodness we attract more of this into our lives: like attract like. Love attracts love.
On the spiritual path you have to surrender all that stops you experiencing love.
In relationship with others
In relationships of happiness we are sharing our qualities; when we express our good qualities we experience happiness. Each of us has are an ocean of love. When we forget the love within we feel that we are lacking something or another and we look to others to provide it for us. We move into dependency; becoming the victim or the bully. Ultimate happiness is to have no dependencies.
Some fine tuning pointers:
a) Criticism: if you react to a criticism is means that there is some truth in it. When there is no truth in it, it doesn’t touch us.
b) Own your mistakes: we are all working towards perfection; no-one is there yet. It is vital for us to own our mistakes if we want to have self-progress and self-empowerment.
c) Listen: 90% of communication is listening. Listen to the meaning behind the words. When we are in upheaval; have a desire; come with our conditioning we aren’t able to listen – our mind will be either proclaiming similar or different thoughts.
d) Over-sensitive? When someone is angry, for example, they are so because they are in pain and are trying to get rid of the pain. At such times be like a ship at sea caught in a storm. To let the water (words) in means to sink. We need to protect ourselves from taking in all that is thrown at us- the things that if taken in stop us being loving.
e) Relationships going wrong? This happens when our relationship with ourself has gone wrong. Invest in getting this one right- take time out for this.
f) Taking others for granted destroys all truth. See their qualities and specialities.
g) Each of us has our own story. Someone else’s may not fit in well with mine- agree to differ. Mine is not to judge their story as right / wrong because it differs from mine.
