Have you ever attempted to make the impermanent permanent?
In attaching ourselves to impermanent things we spend our time attempting to make them permanent, so we begin to deceive ourselves. We make the great mistake of believing that attachment is love, and so live in a state of anxiety due to the fear that at any moment we might lose whatever it is that we are attached to… and so, we lose love.
An attached state versus a loving one?
Living in an attached state all we are actually doing is generating fear of loss, are we not? Inevitably we lose what we are attached to -it cannot be otherwise as we have attached ourselves to something impermanent- and we feel sad. We have fallen under the illusion that we have lost something, that it is possible for us to lose something.
Next, we fall under the illusion that it is not our fault but the fault of someone else, the fault of the government, a neighbour, a friend etc. and so we turn our sadness into blame and anger. We believe that it is good to get angry and to tell people how it is. We call it justified anger. We give away our power to change anything by doing this.
This anger doesn’t last either. We get bored with it and turn it into the fear of the same thing happening again. We begin to say: ‘What if’. We create future scenarios. Then of course one happens, if you create the image -even if one of fear- it will happen. Again there is sadness, anger, fear… We create and live in this cycle and we believe that it is true.
Is it possible to step out of this cycle and free yourself from the illusion that one can lose anything?
See the I behind all this and that you can never actually ‘possess’ anything. All I have done is attach myself to an object/person/scenario in my mind, on the screen of my mind, and lost myself in that image.
Hearts are blocked by attachment. The heart is a radiant energy and we block it from flowing out. If we let if flow peace, love and joy would become real.
