We live in a world surrounded by sorrow and negativity. To make things positive isn’t about not seeing this, it about enabling us to see the sorrow in ourselves and in others and then to see how to make it positive, to become an agent for positivity. This could be to give love, for example, but for this we need to become internally strong and know how to maintain this otherwise we burn-out.
Begin with you. How do we find the richness in whatever situations we find ourselves in? If there is something we need to learn to enable us to grow then life throws us a small stone. If we don’t learn the lesson here then it will throw us a bigger stone… then a medium sized one… then an even larger one… and eventually a rock.
In situations:
1) Accept them, don’t resist. When we resist we create a lot of friction and cause ourselves even more pain. We don’t need to discuss with the situation we are in/obstacle before us why it is there etc. When we do does it help or embroil us more?
2) Go deeper i.e. go deep into your inner world and ask yourself; ‘What do I need to learn here?’ ‘What is the positive in this?’
Take a river flowing from its source to the ocean. It knows where it is going and is determined to get there. It meets many obstacles along the way, does it resist them? Does it stop to discuss with the mountain that is in it’s way why it is there and demand that it moves out of it’s way? No, it accepts that the mountain is there and just goes around it. In doing so it actually gets to its destination much more quickly than it would if it stopped to argue with the mountain.
There are two cycles: one of negativity and one of positivity and they sit one on top of the other as in the number 8. The bottom one is the negative one and to move to the positive one on top we have to pass through the ‘point’ where they touch.
The point = the bridge between these two cycles = our inner spiritual world.
a) This point tells me that I need to become ‘a point’ i.e. to find my inner spiritual strength or nature. How do you draw peace, love, patience etc.? The simplest thing we can draw is a point.
b) Focus on this ‘point’ i.e. concentrate on your inner being and inner values. If we are running around all day from one thing to another our energy is scattered. We need to concentrate our focus (energy) in order to access our spiritual power and strength: our peace, love, joy, patience, generosity etc. Then we can bring them out and use them in our day to day life. In this way we can make our inner selves very strong.
This strength is invisible but it is there within us all. Sometimes we only recognize our own strength when we are confronted by situations. We don’t realize how strong we are until such times. It is this strength that can be used to make things positive and not allow the negative to influence us.
Extra help needed? Sometimes the negative cycles we are trapped in are very strong and we may need help. When a system is closed there is a tendency towards chaos (the law of entropy) and it is only something from outside the system can change this trajectory. God is the Supreme Source of positivity and as He is outside of ‘our system ‘ He is able to help us end our negative cycles and support us in entering positive ones. First though, we need to learn to allow ourselves to be helped, ego stops us. To be open to be helped we need to be humble (otherwise we are closed) and honest in our hearts. We can ask for help every day, for the help to be positive for today, we don’t have to wait for a crisis first.
