FUN v HAPPINESS
Is fun the same as happiness?
Happiness is something I feel. Fun is something I do, an act, something that brings me amusement. It is not about being a joker who is constantly making jokes, either. That can be tedious/annoying. Nowadays fun is something we save for our leisure time. When did you stop having fun?
When was the last time you felt life was fun? Who has the most fun?
Children know nothing about being “funny” and everything about having fun. The average 5 year-old laughs 250 times a day. The average 35 year-old now laughs only 15 times a day. Childhood is about adventure.
How to have a childlike attitude. They:
– have nothing to lose, everything to gain.
– have a short memory. They let go immediately.
– don’t hold grudges. They accept everyone.
– don’t get embarrassed.
– see something and reach for it.
– have no fear. They will stick their hands into practically any hole.
– learn by doing, not observing.
How did I allow my life to get so serious?
– When I began to doubt myself/lost confidence in myself. (puberty). Life stops being fun when doubt enters, when we think we have something to lose.
– I became afraid of losing face, self respect or dignity.
– I started to think life is a struggle.
– I enjoy temporary moments of fun, then I live for those moments to repeat.
– I started to live two parallel lives, a serious one and a fun one. For children, life is one big adventure.
Bring back the child-like qualities into your life. Remember…
– Do not be paranoid.
– Be carefree.
– Take everything in your stride.
– If you fall down, just get up.
– If you fail, forget it quickly.
– It’s about exploring, trial and error.
– Life is one big game, even in dark situations. We are learning as we go along.
– Learning is fun.
– Have an aim and objective.
