What is real? What is life’s foundation? What makes something ‘a truth’? What makes something real and not a dream? Could this be a dream? How do we know that this isn’t a dream? Could it be that we are asleep and dreaming?
The film The Matrix explored these themes. The Matrix is about waking up to what is real and what isn’t. The Matrix presents us metaphorically with two ‘realities’ and how we can go from one to the other. The Matrix shows us how deeply lost we can become when we become immersed in the drama, the play, the matrix or the soap opera. Those who break out of the matrix come to see the play from a different perspective, and then begin to relate to it differently, no longer at its mercy.
In The Matrix Neo comes back to reality after being in the matrix and says how he thought the matrix was real. Morpheus replies that it is our minds that makes the matrix real.
The Matrix is a construct created by machines / artificial intelligence (AI). In it human beings have come to be ruled by their own creation, Neo eventually becomes totally free of the matrix by coming to believe in himself –in his real and true self – and that this real Neo is more powerful than the dream.
The Matrix – could we be trapped in something like this? We may be having an OK time, but to become aware of any matrix we may be in would mean to experience freedom. Do you experience that freedom now?
What is your model of reality? How do you decide what is real?
1) Via your senses:- Can we be deceived by our senses? Do the things that we don’t perceive through them not exist, e.g., how about the higher pitched noises dogs hear and we don’t? What about extra-sensory perception, i.e. those things we experience and that are beyond our physical senses, such as, near death experiences? Here someone who is medically dead comes back having experienced a different reality with a far clearer sense of self and of knowing.
2) Via your mind and understanding:- Around us everything comes to its end or changes. Is anything permanent and unchanging in our lives? A main aspect of life is change! Even this body will come to its end. How do we understand these things religions and philosophies try to explain and make sense of?
3) Via your experiences:- Our sense of reality often tends to be overrulingly governed by the negative and aggressive experiences we have had which leave us feeling inadequate and fearful. Is this how it is meant to be? Is this the true construct of reality or could it be that the real one is of love and sharing?
Taking The Matrix as our model, it is our negativity that is our creation and that is currently ruling us. It rules us depending on how much we have lost sight of our true (original) self, lost our inner power and become dependent on things outside of us, which are constantly changing. The realness inside doesn’t change though and experiencing this allows us to come to feel completely secure.
Choose to wake up to The Matrix. First free your mind and then yourself.
