Historically we have not studied our inner worlds as we have the external physical world and so lacking a ‘language’ to truly describe our inner experiences we have borrowed words we know, for example, I feel light/heavy. Now we have the Internet.
The computer terminal = brain and screen of the mind
What have you stored in this computer? What are you downloading onto the screen of your mind from one moment to the next? Have you noticed what happens when you download something negative/positive? When I download something heavy and negative I use up a lot more bandwidth than for something lighter and positive.
The programme running is… = the state of my mind
Whatever it is I download I play/experience. Whatever it is I am experiencing seems real and entertaining and the opposite side seems like dealing in unreality i.e. when I have downloaded something negative anything positive seems untrue. Also vice-versa when I have downloaded something positive negative thoughts seem ridiculous. So, what looks true is being determined by the state of my inner being. Recall, how did the world the world look that day you felt low/great? Wasn’t everything the same out there on both days?
Optimum performance = install a virus-checker and a firewall
The virus checker: we need to be discriminating about what we download. Once installed though we still need to keep alert for those clever virus that creep in through the virus checker and for new ones. It needs to be regularly checked and updated. The firewall: we also need to be able to discriminate what is useful and what isn’t so useful to take on board from external sources.
The search engine = what are we searching for?
Another factor that will help to keep you safe from virus is to know the addresses not to go to and don’t go there, and then direct yourself to where you want to go. Do you know what your aim and objective is? What are you typing into the search box?
The operating system = our consciousness
What operating system are you running in? We see the world accordingly, we can change it though. This connected to our attitude. An attitude is created by a set of thoughts, which attitude are you working in?
The WWW = no man is an island
We may each be a stand alone terminal but we are all interconnected with each other and with nature (an ecosystem). Our interconnectedness with the environment has come into particular notice of late, we have global warming, carbon footprints, increasing amounts of rubbish etc. Then with each other: the good friend who knows something is up even though you are miles apart, you remember someone and they call, you take an instant like or dislike to someone before you have even spoken to them, etc.
We have been operating primarily in a ‘machine system’ way. This is: a) what do I want? b) how do I get it? and c) implement the strategy. We haven’t been taking our interconnectedness into account. In an ecosystem each entity puts something into the system that is of value to others such as, trees put out oxygen which we need and we put out carbon dioxide which trees need. Each of us has something unique to contribute to this ecosystem. A sign as to whether or not I am doing this is: when we are contributing our gift we tend to feel lighter, positive, happy and have natural self-esteem. When we feel heavier, low and sensitive it is sign that you may not be. Ask yourself: what is important to me? What are my values? What am I here to contribute? What have I been doing at those times in my life when I felt light, happy and positive?
