Are you a slave to your mind?
No matter what can you maintain your peace of mind?
Does your mind run away with you or are in charge?
What kind of mind would you like to have?
What kind of thoughts are you creating within your mind?
What is your mind seeking?
What do you fill your mind with?
What is mastery of the mind? To be able to choose the thoughts that that I think; my attitude; what I feel and my experience of life. To not be influenced by anything external or by my past or by my apprehensions for the future against my wish.
How do I MASTER my mind?
Mercy. Is your way of thinking is damaging you physically, mentally and emotionally or nourishing you? If it is damaging you, do you want to continue to do this to yourself? To have mercy is to decide to no longer think in a way that is harmful to your own well-being but to choose to cherish yourself. Once you make this decision the journey inward begins and I move from focusing on making external changes to internal ones. When you do paradoxically you will find that things will automatically change externally.
Acceptance of everything just as it is. You can’t change the past, accepting it and the current situation you find yourself in allows you to shift your focus from the problem(s) to finding a solution and move on. Practice with the little things first. Talk to your mind, advice it and become your own mind’s best friend.
Solitude. Solitude allows us to become aware of what is going on in our own mind and so what is beneficial to us and what is not. It is an opportunity to practice creating enriching and powerful thoughts. Take the chance to listen to a creative visualization or mediation CD.
Trust in the ‘being’ part of you. We are human beings. The ‘human’ part relates to my body and all things physical: food, money, looks, position, possessions, etc. The ‘being’ part to the spiritual element. This ‘being’ part is eternal and immortal and nothing can harm it. Both sides are important, but a balance is needed. Today we are generally much more focused on the ‘human’ side neglecting the ‘being’ side. We can begin to re-discover the ‘being’ part of us in silence and in this silence we can also connect with God.
Empowerment. Take the time to do the things that give you that sense of empowerment rather than drain you. Maybe it is reading an empowering book, a walk in nature, going to a seminar or spending time with empowering people. Also, be careful what you take in 30 mins before you sleep, as this is what will go into your sub-conscious and then you will wake up wondering why you don’t feel so good!
Responsibility, take responsibility for what is going on in your mind. When you find yourself around people that push your buttons for example do you react or respond? Consider: everyone in our drama is meant to be there, they (challenges) are integral to your spiritual progress. Anything that you are resisting is exactly right for you! Ask yourself: what do I need to learn here? What is this teaching me? What am I resisting? What belief or mind-set is being challenged? What am I attached to?
