What is a Wizard or Witch? They are visionaries; masters of the elements (they understand the laws of energy and nature); keepers of ancient knowledge and teachers. They focus on their potential and others’ potential; they see the bigger picture and work with it… and they fulfil a big destiny.
They are associated with good and using their talents for the benefit of humanity, but that’s not always the case. They have the potential to use their minds and talents for ‘bad’ too.
What is wizardry? Essentially, wizardry is the power to transform. That’s what magic is! It is using the power of the mind as a force for good.
INNER WIZARD
I is for… Inner thoughts
N is for… No heavy thoughts and to wear the incognito invisibility cloak of positive thoughts that create a protective shield around us.
N is for… No limits. Discovering your dormant and latent potential and learn how to use it. When we begin on this journey of self discovery we don’t believe that we would ever say of ourselves: I am kind, I am patient, I am peaceful for example. Write a list of your positive qualities.
E is for… the mirror of Erised ‘ … shows the deepest desperate heart’s desire, which is neither knowledge or truth. Not showing what is real or even possible … men have gone mad … it does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to love …’ Dumbledore (Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, J.K.Rowling)
R is for… Remember. It is possible to ‘defeat’ negative thoughts by knowing and understanding why they happen and by not being frightened of them. Employ defence against the dark arts: meditation, good food, exercise, good company, fresh air and deep breathing. Our own doubtful thoughts about ourselves and our abilities are like ‘de-mentors’ – they drain us of our energy and make us unsure of ourselves.
W is for… Why? What? Where? When? All these words take us on trains of thoughts that drain us.
I is for… Inner qualities. “Just like your mother, you’re unfailingly kind. A trait people never fail to undervalue…” (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince J.K. Rowling)
Z is for… Zimbo’s circus. We need the power of discernment to see what is real and what is illusion, the difference between real magic and the ‘circus’. Illusion and entertainment pull us too, only, they lead us down the wrong path.
A is for… Appreciation and Abundance. Do we see what we have? So many times, for example, Harry Potter feels deep love for his friends and Hogwarts – it sustains him and helps stay loving.
R is for… Regular practise, this helps us when things get tough. The things we have practised regularly become our habits and so provide us with a strong foundation.
D is for … Death ‘… to the well organised mind, death is but the next great adventure …’ Dumbledore (Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, J.K. Rowling)
