Day 5: Meditation Challenge

Day5_Waterlily

The Water Lily Pond

Make yourself comfortable and breathe deeply and slowly. Let go of any tension, any tightness from your body and sink more and more into deep relaxation. Imagine that the sun’s out and you’re walking down a path, walking towards a pond with water lilies. Stop by a bench under a willow tree, near the pond.

Sitting on the bench, look at the green leaves of the water lilies, spread across the surface of the pond. Do the leaves look smooth or jagged? Is the shape, rounded or pointed? Now take your attention to the water lilies, floating on the water surface, just above the leaves, are they just one colour or varied? Sitting under the long weeping branches of the willow tree, enjoy a little bit of tranquillity. Absorb the green of the leaves, absorb the colours of the water lilies and let it all refresh your eyes.

Like the water lilies, absorb the warmth and the light from the sun. Like the water lilies, stay grounded and present. As the light of the sun fades, watch the petals closing in.

Slowly bring your attention back to where you are, open your eyes if they’re closed, and simply sit.

Day 5: Meditation Challenge

A Meditation Space.
Create a special meditation space at home. You can have a candle, flowers, soft lighting, a calming image or you can keep the space minimal. But none of this is necessary. You can meditate anywhere in your home. You may want to avoid meditating on the bed, as it’s got a sleepy vibe. If you can, try and find a quiet spot.
