Sit for one minute of silence.
-What was your mind like?
-What form did its’ ‘noise’ take?
-Were there any worries forming?
It is the nature of the mind to think and it has created many wonderful things. When that thinking turns into worry… we need to re-balance.
We talk of the 2 sides of our brain (mind).
Left: understands, processes, detail, logical, lawful, linear, takes in information through the five senses, controlling …
Right: fluid, creative, subtle, abstract, sees the bigger picture, accepting, unconditional …
Worry is a left-brained activity- our rational and linear thinking process is working. We get caught in trying to analyse everything in our lives and going round and round in our thoughts. This takes us away from the state of being we want to experience; peace, love and happiness are not tangible.
Results now!
Our left side is not particularly patient- it wants to get on and it wants results. The balance of the right-side is needed. When we get absorbed in something, for example, our mind calms down, it lets go of impatience and the need for results. It is as if we have steeped into a timeless state of being where there is inner peace and silence. It is a space of light, wisdom, intuitive understanding and eternal sunshine.
‘In getting something done’, time becomes powerful – it rules me- and there is pressure and there are worries.
Re-balance = step out of time from time to time.
Caught up!
When we are in a state of frenzy and worries, our horizon and understanding becomes narrower and narrower- we get caught in one thing.
Re-balance = use the power of observation. It doesn’t matter what is going on, just observe. In just observing we enter a space that is silent and become the silent witness of our own thoughts. We are no longer judging or trying to force, block or break our thoughts.
Taking it all too seriously?
We do we have to do and act- we are doing and acting all the time. However, worry comes when we get caught up in the roles we are playing and in how well they are going.
Re-balance= consider yourself to be the actor playing a part. If I make a mistake I can learn and grow from it. I am doing my best. It is OK.
Mine!
What is our major fear that creates the most worry? Losing things.
Re-balance= we are timeless beings. We don’t own anything. When we go can we take any of ‘this’ with us? If don’t own anything we cannot lose anything.
Trust
Instead of worrying- just think it’s going to be alright.
Trust in 3 things:
-the nature of the self. You are much more powerful and unlimited than you know. Take courage and explore ‘Who am I?’ trusting that what you will discover will be something beautiful.
-there is benefit in everything that happens; even from ‘bad things’ – good can come out of them. ‘There is some benefit here’ this attitude moves us into a more positive frame and allows us to see the gift of all situations.
-in something higher and its’ benevolence.
