On Tuesday, 8 April 2025, Dadi Ratan Mohini, the last remaining Dadi (elder sister), from the founding members of the Brahma Kumaris passed away. Born on 25 March 1925 in Hyderabad, Sindh, this year she just celebrated her 100th birthday. She lived a life that embodied grace, service and unwavering dedication.

Drawn to silence and spiritual study, Dadi became a foundational part of the Brahma Kumaris from its earliest days in 1936. In 1954, Dadi was invited to speak at the World Peace Conference in Japan, marking the Brahma Kumaris’ first step onto the international stage. This was followed by a year-long journey through Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia, where she shared messages of spiritual empowerment. Between 1972 and 1974, Dadi played a major role in establishing the Brahma Kumaris meditation centres in the UK.

Since then, Dadi had been based at the headquarters in Mount Abu, Rajasthan, India. Her duties involved managing and coordinating Brahma Kumaris’ activities in the state of Rajasthan, as well as the development and training of meditation teachers throughout India. She served as a spiritual resource to young people; her work included organising walking tours and cycle rallies across India, promoting values-based living and addiction-free lifestyles. From March 2021, she took on the mantel of being the Administrative Head of the Brahma Kumaris.

Dadi Ratan Mohini last visited us in central London on 7 July 2009, where she held a ‘Master Class in Meditation and Spirituality’ at the CBI Conference Centre, Centre Point in the West End.

‘Ratan Mohini’ means the most beautiful jewel. Dadi was known for her punctuality, forthright nature and humility. She lived her life lightly and free of tension, and remained lively and young at heart.
