Day 18: Meditation Challenge

Tune In, Turn Off

Take a moment and listen. Listen to the sounds around you, sounds far in the distance. Notice the sounds and let them go. Tune in to listen to how your body feels, any aches and pains, any tension points. Notice and let it go. Now listen to the rhythm of your breath and allow relaxation to spread from your feet to your legs, and to your hips, from your back to your shoulders, arms to your wrists and down to your hands, and now from your neck up to the top of your head.

Take your attention inside your head. Think of your mind as a radio. Tune in to hear what’s going on in your mind, right now. All the thoughts overlapping one another, like white noise. Fine-tune the dial to listen to your thoughts more clearly.

Tune in to the different stations and listen to the different sounds. Listen to the sound of waves. Listen to the sound of birds. Listen to the sound of rain. Select the sound you want to hear.

Now, turn off the radio, turn off the thoughts. Listen to the quiet for a moment. Let the quiet envelop you and allow yourself to become completely quiet. As you enjoy a bit of quiet, slowly tune your attention to the present moment and stay in the here and the now.

Day 18: Meditation Challenge

Silence Or Music?
Silence is golden. But using music in meditation can be very useful. It creates the right mood and when you rest your focus on the music, it has a soothing effect on you. Music also absorbs all the distracting noises and voices in the background. We suggest not using songs or dramatic classical music. The trick is to create a playlist that suits you.
