Boost your positivity
It may be easier than you think! We’ve all heard (or been told) how being more positive doesn’t just make us feel better, but it also improves our relationships, we become more resilient, creative, successful as well as have better health and live longer.
Here are 5 simple steps that will make a huge difference to you:
1) ‘Me Mornings’ – First thing in the morning, write down 3 things you have to be grateful for today. This is important because so much of our lives we take things for granted! Take something for granted and you no longer notice or value you it . Take something for granted and you no longer fully enjoy it. Take something for granted and you no longer see its beauty or how beneficial it is!
2) Compliment – Every day, compliment at least one person on something by email, text, phone or in person. Be sure to be specific and authentic when giving a compliment. This is not just investing in your relationships meaningfully, it’s participating fully!
3) Meditate – Practice meditation daily for 20 minutes (you can do it in two 10 minute intervals if you prefer). In your meditation practice include 2 further steps, being focused on a positive awareness and then being a non-judgemental observer – accepting whatever crops up in your mind.
4) Journal – This is the easiest journaling you’ll ever do. At the end of the day, write down at least one good thing that happened through the day. This is learning to accept the blessings and ‘everyday miracles’ that come your way. It’s experiencing the magic of living.
5) Smile – Research has shown that smiling has the same effect on the brain as eating 2000 bars of chocolate or being given £16,000 out of the blue!
