Are you happy?
We spend so much time and money trying to attain happiness as our everyday thinking and speaking doesn’t give us happiness anymore. Happiness, though, is something that we experience internally. Who is the ‘you’ -the being- that feels happy? Go within and ask yourself ‘Who am I?’ We say: I am this/that. ‘Who is I?’ It isn’t to do with your name, clothes, gender or nationality. When you ask this and go deep within you will discover that you are a soul.

What does ‘soul’ mean?
(i) It is the living and eternal being. To say ‘I am a soul’ is to acknowledge the soul as being separate to the body.

Inner darkness can finish and all burdens be resolved… and all because I have had the conscious thought that I am a soul and not the body.

(ii) Observe the ‘one’ within. It is easy to observe what is going on in the world around us, in fact, we have become habituated to seeing and understanding this world rather than to seeing and understanding the inner one. When we look within we discover that the soul has a mind, an intellect and personality traits.

We say, ‘My mind is peace-less’. The soul feels in its heart that this is true and the intellect agrees. Understanding is the gift of the intellect- the intellect needs to talk to the mind, to explain to it and to calm it down. Our minds need direction. Then our intellect can create elevated & positive thoughts and our negative habits transform themselves easily.

(iii) When we acknowledge ‘Yes, I am a soul’ the practical knowledge of the soul becomes accessible to us. This practical knowledge is truth, love, peace, inner strength, happiness and warm feelings towards others. We all have this knowledge within…however, if we are not using this knowledge we become subservient to our desires and to whatever attracts us, then we become fearful of losing those things.

Freedom?
Do you feel trapped in desires or attachments? They have their own language: I know it should happen; How can it happen? What shall I do? This is my family, car, house… The soul by nature is free, a flying bird, desires and attachments encage it.

Do you want to fly free?
-Realize that you are caught in a cage.
-Think about being free.
What would it be like to be the master of one’s life?
-Become the actor- the master of your part. An actor knows what he has to do and how to act any part.
-Understand that no-one belongs to you, each of us is an individual and each play our own part- this lets us stop trying to to control others. Instead inspire them to become their best by you becoming your best.
-Be alert and have attention on being in the now, then you will be able to interact with love, mercy and compassion.

No time?
We say that we don’t have time to take out to understand the self, we are too busy. If we stopped doing three things though we would free up lots of time, which we could then use to understand the self and to share happiness. These three things: looking at others, thinking of others and looking at others’ faults. See the harm that doing these three things causes, then you will want to stop doing this.

Quality of life?
When we are praised we feel happy, when insulted upset. Is this the way to live? To have quality of life is to live with contentment and with tolerance. Something will always be happening whether it be in our relationships, with our health… Contentment and tolerance allow us to remain feeling that everything is okay, that we really do have everything we need and that there is nothing we need to ask for whatever is happening.

Be pro-active
When we live with unawareness and just move from one desire to the next the result is that here is confusion and fear. Today we are generally confused, fearful and scared. When we are fearful and lack courage what can we do? One hears something small has gone wrong and one gets scared. Stop and choose to be free from all of this. Make a clear decision to become free, content and full. When God hears you say this He helps.

Be pro-active in performing those actions that bring happiness and abundance into your life; become loving and loved by all. Avoid performing those actions that make you a burden for others or bring a burden on your own head, then there will be no regret or guilt.

When God is pleased with our actions we will never want, our fortune is made and our destiny is set in life.
