Three areas:
– a feeling/sense from inside about something, that is unrelated to anything going on outside of you right then.
– responding to things on the outside- you just know instinctively what needs to be done and you do it.
– a thought from ‘out of the blue’ that if you follow proves worthwhile, a window left open etc.
How do I develop this?
Well, it isn’t so much about developing it as about what do I need to clear away so that I can begin to hear it.
How do we remove the barriers?
We need to employ four inner powers for this. Power is energy that is focused. If, for example, we focus the sun’s rays onto a piece of paper it burns. Focused energy has the power to transform (clear away the barriers).
There are four steps (each using one of these four powers):
1) Withdraw: use the power to withdraw to step back from all that is happening around you and to go inside and become aware of your thoughts. It isn’t that the rest isn’t important, it is just that now isn’t the time to deal with them.
2) Pack-up: having withdrawn use the power to pack up to allow you to fully focus on the issue at hand, on what you need to do right now. This means packing up all those thoughts that are not relevant to the situation at hand. Those unnecessary, wondering and distracting thoughts that stop one from focusing on what I want to focus on.
3) Tolerate: whatever is going on around me I remain light and accepting. I am not gritting my teeth, I am observing in a detached manner and remaining calm and loving. This is based on understanding.
4) Accommodate: this is like being a river travelling towards the ocean. Whatever it picks up along the way it accommodates that, not getting stuck it just continues to flow on to the ocean. Then on reaching the ocean all that it has carried flows and disappears into the ocean. So, I recognise what is happening but I don’t hold onto any negativity that is generated, I learn from what has happened and then I let go of the negativity for it to dissipate into the ocean. I don’t dwell on what has happened, I merge it and move on.
How free do you think your mind will be after following this process?
If I now return to my question- having cleared the clutter of thoughts, accepting (tolerating) whatever place I find myself in and having let go of the negativity of the past – would I not be much more able to hear the answers? My sixth sense (my consciousness and awareness) becomes my first sense.
