You’re the main character in your life. However, not every scene is about you.
Sometimes you’re one of the extras or playing a supporting role. So, when it’s someone else’s scene, understand that this is their scene and try not to a) make it about you, and b) give an opinion on how they should play their role. Understand this, and you’re free to play your role.
