Inner Peace for Busy People

How is it even possible to maintain inner peace in the midst of everyday life? You know, the life which is super busy; filled with demands, deadlines, hopes and dreams… To be able to stay calm when unexpected things happen or others are stressing out around you? We all have the right to be at peace with ourselves and feel comfortable in our own skin.  With inner peace many other things can blossom, such as, love and happiness.

How can we create such inner peace? Let’s start by assuming that peace is our natural state of being. Perhaps that’s why we long for peace or we feel lost when we aren’t experiencing peace in our lives? If so, the next step is to cultivate peace within ourselves through deepening our experience of who we are. Then and only then, the third step is to make peace with our past, future and our mind.

Here are 3 steps to experiment with:  1) Sit quietly and let yourself go deeper and deeper inside until you come into feeling yourself to be light.  2) During the day take ten minute breaks and reflect on peace. Get a feeling for the taste of it.  3) As you are going to sleep, allow yourself to feel that you are in a body of light.

As you try this, you will become more aware of your mind. Mind travel is very fast. One second we are in the past recalling memories that bring us feelings of warmth and security or of fear and upset. The next second we are worrying about the future. To create a lasting state of inner peace we need to both resolve and clean out unhappy memories and put a full stop to worrying about the future.

Choose to invest in yourself in this way and watch your inner peace grow. We naturally find we are then, more and more, able to stay peaceful in the midst of chaos; steer our thoughts in a more compassionate direction; master how we can choose how to be in situations and see the quality of our work and our efficiency increase.

So, take a few minutes now and experiment with these ideas. Find out for yourself if these things are valid or nonsense…
